10th KL Air Scouts Group

The course is done in MBS! (as you can see from the photos la)

So there are 7 modules, each session is being briefed by a trainer.

1. Objective and Principles in Scouting
2. The Scout Promise and Scout Laws
3. The Religion Element
4. Records and Documents in a Group
5. Woodbadge Training Scheme
6. History in Scouting
7. The Scout Uniform

There was a briefing session on today’s course by Jamal. Shortly after that, the course starts.

At about 9 or 9.30am, first trainer started on the objective and principles. This is really a refreshing topic as it reminds us on our objective in scouting. The main point is, boys have fun, but there is a greater cause ahead which we would have to achieve together as a Scout.

2nd module: On the element of religion in Scouting. This guy, gave very brief talk on this, using up 15 minutes of the 45 that he was allocated.

Main point: Practice your religion, not just have it in name. Advise and guide your fellow human beings that are deviant followers of a religion. Lastly, another stress that every Scout must have a religion because of the Scout Promise.

3rd module starts: Very detailed explanation on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, I think he should have more time on this in order to completely remind us all about the Promise that binds us all, and a deeper insight into our Scout Law. It’s not just words in your logbook that you read and forget about!

4th module was on recordkeeping and logging in a scout troop. Jamal’s the trainer for this session. So he gave examples of how and what documents we’re supposed to have in a group. Sounds a lot!

5th module: A briefing on the woodbadge training scheme. He talks very fluently. Really. Good for briefing…haha

6th module: Our Scouter and ASC Gary Lee! Some video on Baden Powell’s last message and a few songs. Then it was Q&A session where topics discussed were Independent Scouts vs WOSM, Patrol System etc.

7th module: On the uniform. One guy and a girl were summoned to the front of the class to show their uniform……………….

After all that, there’s a general Q&A session to answer any curiosity inside us.

After that, it was certificate presenting ceremony. So we gathered into a horse shoe formation:

Very informative course. But the catch is, this is an introduction course which is also tailored to cater for teachers who want to train boy scouts. Which means, if this is informative, we are lacking lots of knowledge.
